Bringing Home the Gold
At The Barclay, the Liberty Games story keeps getting better each year. This year, the athletes brought home the gold after earning bronze two years ago and silver last year. Fourteen athletes and four cheerleaders traveled to Raleigh to compete with their sister Liberty Senior Living communities. Some were seasoned competitors; others were first time participants.
Day 1 didn’t go their way, and the team found themselves near the bottom of the standings. On the final day though, they rallied through water events, ping pong, and shuffleboard to climb to the top.
Excitement, camaraderie, and support followed them every step of the way. The Barclay had sent the team off in celebration, hosted a lively watch party for the opening ceremonies, and even had leadership drive up to Raleigh to cheer them on in person. When the gold team returned home, they were welcomed with banners, balloons, pom poms, and a chorus of joy as “We Are the Champions” filled the air.
