Peaches, Please!

Peach season is serious business at The Barclay at SouthPark, and residents know exactly where to find the good stuff. Each summer, the Life Enrichment team heads to the local farmers market and returns with hundreds of fresh peaches for residents to enjoy.

But this is more than a delicious summer treat. Residents learn about different peach varieties, where they are grown and how to tell when a peach is perfectly ripe. Of course, the best part may be getting to eat the results.

Residents can take home extra peaches to bake into cobblers and crisps or turn into homemade jam. And when those peachy creations emerge from the kitchen, sharing is encouraged. Fresh baked peach treats have a way of bringing people together, especially when there is enough to share with staff.

At The Barclay, peach season is a delicious lesson in local food, good cooking and community.
